Arizona National Guard Historical Society
-
This non-profit corporation helps preserve the Arizona
Military Museum and holds events to remember the
military in wars and other military actions around the
world.
In addition to preserving the museum, the Society also
puts out a newsletter regularly that documents the
history of the Armed Services that have a connection to
Arizona.
Some examples of
this is printing stories about Arizona’s first World War
2 ace fighter pilot who grew up raising cattle on the
Mongollon Rim.
The newsletter also provides articles about
current military operations, such as the Arizona Air
National Guard 214th Reconnaissance Groups, a
team of pilots stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force
Base. This group has been flying Unmanned Aerial
Vehicles (UAVs) twenty-four hours a day, seven days a
week, providing information about battlefield conditions
and assisting ground troops since August of 2007.
